At Flourish San Diego, the spiritual formation of every staff person, Academy participant, and Greenhouse member is of utmost importance. In order to create an environment conducive to spiritual formation, and to remind us throughout the day that God is at work in, through, and around us, we’ve adopted some spiritual rhythms.
One of our rhythms involves stopping whatever we are doing at 11:45 a.m. We gather around and together pray a midday prayer. The prayer is adapted from the Daily Office of the Northumbria Community.
You are welcome to stop in and join us for prayer any time.
Midday Prayer
Take moment to share what is on your mind as a way of offering those concerns to God, followed by 60 seconds of silence.
(Leader)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Opening Sentences (All)
Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us.
Establish Thou the work of our hands;
establish Thou the work of our hands.
The Lord’s Prayer (All)
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
Declaration of Faith (All)
We believe and trust in God the Father Almighty.
We believe and trust in Jesus Christ His Son.
We believe and trust in the Holy Spirit.
We believe and trust in the Three in One.
Canticle (All)
Teach us, dear Lord, to number our days;
that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Satisfy us early with Your mercy,
that we may rejoice and be glad all of our days.
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us;
and establish Thou the work of our hands.
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us;
and establish Thou the work of our hands, dear Lord.
Blessing (Leader)
Let nothing disturb you,
nothing affright you;
all things are passing,
God never changes!
Patient endurance attains to all things;
who God possesses
in nothing is wanting;
alone God suffices.
(All)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
